I am trying to use my arduino board to control my heating and cooling unit for my house. Will this triac work for switching 24 AC < 200 mA using my arduino to control the Gate on/off of the triac???
Also, do I need a gate resistor not sure??

The ratings on the triac look OK to me.  You will probably need a gate resistor, just like the base resistor in a transistor circuit.

Remember that this device will not isolate the Arduino's power supply from the 24V AC that (presumably) supplies your solenoid valves.  For isolation, you'll need an opto-coupled triac, or a relay, or a solid-state relay.
