Bigger Bigger Smaller Smaller Reset Reset

Dear all,
I have been doing research in control theory and I verify my theory using simulations (e.g., using  Matlab). I would like to build a small lab which will assist in learning control theory in combination with real life experiments.

I would like to be able to control the speed of a motor by measuring its speed and use it via feedback to build a PID controller?

- Could you please suggest some components to build this experiment inexpensively?

There is a good PID library , this should be a great place to start
