Hi all,

I've tried posting to the #arduino irc channel, but get the message "Cannot send to channel: #arduino".

It looks like there are a lot of people on the #arduino channel, on the order of 100 people.  Yet I see no posts, only people joining and quitting.  I'm wondering if anyone is able to post, or if everyone else cant post either and joins the channel, finds they can't post, and then quits.

Any help?  Ideas?

Thx...

The FreeNode #arduino channel seems fine to me.  A bit quiet, maybe.  It's a big holiday weekend for christians, and it may also depend on what hour you visit an IRC channel.  Some channels require you use a "registered" nickname, so try /msg nickserv help to learn about the nickserv (nickname services facility).

I also tried this. My irc client is mIRC. I registered both my nick and alternate nick on irc using the /msg NickServ <username> blah-blah command. Both my nick and alternate are registered.  Now I can send to the channel, but even though several people are listed on the right as being logged into the channel, there is not the usual 'chatter' going on as I am used to seeing in IRC. Also, when I type "Hello?", nothing happens.

They can't be THAT rude, are they?

I am an Arduino newb, but a hardware tech for 40 years+.  Just had some quick questions.

There seems to be a very limited amount of people using the IRC. It is normally pretty quiet although it appears lots of people are there.
Many people stay permanently logged in but are often not actually there too.

If you want general chat, people are often also on the #sparkfun IRC which is popular and also ##electronics.
