Topic: LinkSprite mcp23017 (port expander) shield... stencil error? (Read 145 times) previous topic - next topic

I have been testing my new Linksprite i2c i/o expander shield.  It seems to work just fine with a Leo.

However, I was scratching my head for a while (thought I had a bad board) because I could not get  register A ports to work.  Turned out (as far as I can tell) that the stencilling on the upper side of the shield board is wrong:  register A ports are labelled backwards!  That is, the port labelled DA7 is really DA0 and DA6 is really DA1 and so on.

This was darned confusing at first and I have dropped a line to Linksprite.  Has anyone else noticed this?

If you have a Linksprite and you thought GPIOA was dead, try reading the A ports in reverse :-)
