Arduino as an audio switch

I was out plowing snow with my utv a week or so ago with my ipod and when I got back to the house my spouse commented that she had tried to get me on the FRS radio and I hadn't answered. I day or so later it occured to me that perhaps I could use Arduino and some audio switching IC's (from somewhere like Maxim) to have a 'smart' switch that would let the ipod or stereo play until a call came in on the FRS or my cell phone where upon it would mute the music and connect me to the radio or cell call.

I tried a quick search of the forum, but didn't find anything. What would be a good starting place ??

Looks like a job for analogue multiplexers.
A good start is this file:-
