Hi everybody. Seen loads of ads about arduino and decided to try it out. I know electronics, but coding would be something new to me. I want to buy arduino board and some adds, but don't know which one is better. Project aim would be create couple useful devices. One of them rotary encoder signal emulation. What would i need for that?  :)

Suggest you start with the http://ArduinoInfo.Info WIKI. Dig around through the hardware and software parts.

Really good info, thanks. How about short circuit protection? 40mA per pin is not much. But using shields I could control higher power circuits. Am I right?:)
Also which board would be best for multi purpose use? Can I make/store 3 different setups on one board?
