Solenoid valve.

i have a little problem here about solenoid valve 220V AC.
i am using 5v micro controller. i will operate 200V AC solenoid valve operated by 5v micro controller, but i don't know if it will be work properly.
solenoid valve is powered by 220v AC. My question is, can it be change from 220v AC supply to 12v, and how can i make solenoid valve powered by 12v?

Need help here!!! please! :~ :~ :~

i forgot. here is the flow chart, it goes like this.

5v Controller -> 12v Relay -> 220v AC(i want this to be 12v)
to protect my controller and my LCD for high Voltage which is 220v AC.

You will need to find a 12V solenoid valve or stick with using a mains-rated relay to control it.

In theory a solenoid valve could have its coil re-wound, but I suspect taking one apart will ruin it...

I would use a solid state relay (SSR) driven by the uC to run the solenoid. That way you get optical isolation from the mains. The SSR can be driven by the 5V uC with proper choice of current limiting resistor.

or just something like the beefcake relay kit from sparkfun (SparkFun Beefcake Relay Control Kit (Ver. 2.0) - KIT-13815 - SparkFun Electronics) for 7.95 and optically isolate it if you wanted to with something like https://www.sparkfun.com/products/314 from sparkfun as well.
or, you could just go with a smaller solenoid valve such as 12V Solenoid Valve - 3/4" - ROB-10456 - SparkFun Electronics. i am using two of these currently in my garden

u can i there use a 12V solenoid valve or use a fuse for ur safty
