CMOS viewer

I have a project where I want to use a small Toshiba cmos camera and directly view what it sees. I don't want to take pictures or video and store it but I just want to view it on a small display. I figured I could use an atmega processor to do this and I have an arduino uno to use as a test bed. Is there anyone who has done something similar before and can direct me there or is this something that is beyond the processing power of an atmega?

I figured I could use an atmega processor to do this

Oh yes how?
What resolution what frame rate what camera?

Normally the Arduino and video is not a good match. Do you know better?

is this something that is beyond the processing power of an atmega?

I would say so.

As grumpy_mike says, an Arduino can't handle video.

A simpler solution is to get a camera and a cheap monitor. You can even buy them as a set, as a big use of these together is for third party car backup monitors. Here is the cheapest unit I saw on ebay with USA shipping that includes both the monitor and camera: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5-inch-LCD-Square-Digital-Car-Monitor-Waterproof-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Camera-/181148847705?pt=US_Rear_View_Monitors_Cams_Kits&hash=item2a2d500e59
