Does anyone know if I can make use of this little guy? Particularly the wireless part? (Conveniently on a separate board soldered onto the main board. Also with convenient pads for tiny headers 
) Not sure how I could implement this into any projects if it is in fact useful by itself. I've tried googling any schematics with no luck, and it's no big help that the board itself doesn't have any identifying marks.

So looks like some kind of 2.4GHz transmitter with on board strip antenna.
You could look around at nordicsemi.com and see any of the application notes look like that board.
