Lipo fuel gauge

Hi,

I working on a project that uses a lipo battery and a fuel gauge to monitor the battery voltage level.

I have the Sparkfun Lipo Fuel Gauge that uses the MAX17043 IC (SparkFun LiPo Fuel Gauge - TOL-20680 - SparkFun Electronics). For this project though, i will need to get a PCB made (with parts assembly), but the MAX17043 IC is no longer available, hence i need to use the newer MAX17048 IC (Mixed-signal and digital signal processing ICs | Analog Devices).

I have attached the circuit i plan on using with the new MAX17048 IC.

Will the code by SparkFun (http://dlnmh9ip6v2uc.cloudfront.net/datasheets/Dev/Arduino/Shields/LiPower_Shield_Example.ino) work with this new IC. Also, is my circuit diagram correct?

Thanks for your time. I'd really appeciate any help.

Doesn't anyone experiment any more? How difficult would it be to try the code with that IC?

I think the problem is that the IC is surface mount which means he might get a PBC developed and assembled, which is going to cost money. Better to be sure than not.

could you try it first on a breakout board?

I create library for MAX17048
