Short life of noobies

I can't see how anyone will become a "useful" programmer if they do not have the capacity to do research and figure things out for themselves - assisted from time to time by a nudge in the right direction from people here.

I much prefer to help people to learn so they can get the same pleasure and satisfaction that I get.

As far as I can see programming is about recognizing patterns of activity and being able to adapt a pattern from one project so that it fulfills another requirement. Admittedly that is easier with years of experience. But there must be some mental connection from day one.

I can think of two almost interminable Threads that I have contributed to and it seemed to me that the OPs were not capable of building their own mental concepts of how to develop their programs no matter how much advice they received.

Gigs and Collaborations (which I don't contribute to, or read) is available when people want programs written for them.
