Backlight from LCD monitor: may I use it with Arduino ?

Hello,

I got this narrow double tube light which was used as backlight for an LCD monitor. I see no reference written on it. It's around 40 cm long. There is one plug for each tube (please see attached images).

May I use it with Arduino ? Should I add other components ? How ?

Thank you in advance.

if it's anything like the (very similar looking) tubes in a scanner - it needs a very high voltage to start it
think flourescent tube!!

So I would need a relay and an independant power source ? Any idea of the voltage/current needed ?

easiest is to take an old laptop to pieces, or harvest from a scanner
from (rusty) memory - kV to strike, then just (!) 2-300 volts to maintain

do NOT connect to your Arduino!!!

for this you need high voltage power inverter
you need something like this

Thanks guys ! It seems a bit complex to use this spare part. I think I'd better use regular leds...
