(sorry for terrible image quality...)
I have two of the components. 1 was an inductor, and I have it, my question is whether it matters which direction I put it back on. 2 and 3 were capacitors, but I only was able to find one of them. Looking at the schematic they both appear to be 47uF capacitors, and the one I have says 25V on it, does that mean 25 volts?
Thanks in advance for help, I would really like to get my board working again, I just upgraded from a duemilanove and am working on a project where I need to use this board.
Yes, 25 will be the voltage. Mine are 16V as it happens - observe the polarity
of the capacitors (I think the outlines are silk screened).
Inductor polarity doesn't matter - but they are brittle and it might be cracked,
get a lens out and check for this. Whilst doing this look for other damage around
heavy components like connectors that might have lifted or split tracks.
Hope you have a hot-air rework station, its a v. crowded board...
Thanks guys, I ended up putting the inductor and cap that I had back on and doing a janky temporary fix with a non-surface mount 47uF/25V cap that I trimmed the leads on and soldered to the pads. It's not the best soldering I've ever done, but the board seems to be working fine.
CrossRoads:
Fell off? What did it land on?
I dropped it about 5 feet onto the concrete floor, I guess it was just the way it landed. It's doing a great job driving my LED cube now.
