Mega2560 programmer upload problem

Hi, I have a Mega2560 here which I would like to bypass the bootloader adn upload using USBASP programmer. The Arduino software is the latest 1.0.3.

There was no problem to upload the bootloader and everything works fine after that. But when I upload the Blink sketch from the example using the programmer, it doesn't work. Not even after I cycle the power.

Is there anything that I miss out in order to upload using programmer?

I am having exactly the same problem. With the same programmer, it works fine on my Arduino Duemilanove though.

Forgot to add details: win7pro 64 bit, Arduino 1.5.2, USBASP (Ebay clone) with latest firmware from fischl.de. Programming an arbitrary sketch into the MEGA328 on the Duemilanove works fine, and I can burn a bootloader into the MEGA2560 board successfully. But uploading a sketch into the MEGA2560 does not work, the board stays dead with the blink example and other sketches naturally don't load as well.
