Looking for a simple dac for the arduino...

Hi, I'm looking for a DAC which uses a single power source and has a min of 8 bit resolution.
I'm going to interface it to my Atmega32. Which one can I easily find?

Which country are you from, because easy differs from country to country.
Have you looked at www.sparkfun.com -> searchbox on the left -> type dac and several will appear. [my grandparents would have called it magic]

check the mcp4725 - SparkFun I2C DAC Breakout - MCP4725 - BOB-12918 - SparkFun Electronics - sample code is available

Hi, Im from India. And I check out on an indian site and did find the dac you mentioned. Will probably use that same one unless someone else suggest a better one...

suggest a better one

How do YOU define better?

Please state your requirements in more detail.
What is your goal with the DAC?
What is the environment the system should work in?
etc

I'm going to use it with my arduino to generate a voltage ramp at low frequency....

Well that certainly clears things up.

Just in case there are lingering doubts about what you want to do, what range of voltages, to power what, with what current capabilities?

Anything outside of 5V will need additional power supply.
The sparkfun part does 25mA, which is not bad.
I believe http://www.gravitech.us/ also has a little DAC, look in this section,
Micro Interface Boards
that works on I2C or SPI and I think has pins on it already for easy use on a breadboard.

I'll be working with 0 to 5 volts analog output
