Title: Cross-posting
Post by: Jack Christensen on Feb 15, 2013, 01:34 am
Boy, it always comes as a shock when it happens to someone you know. :D

I reported him (jk)

I was shocked by the amount of spamming that that user is doing! "jk"

Did he use his Arduino keyboard sketch? That would have been somewhat ironic and also proper at the same time!  :)

My guess is next he will start posting code without code tags.

Those notices are nice - too bad nobody will read 'em.  :)

Weird exhibitionist.
I'd recommend a thorough shunning.

Close but no cigar. Or was it something else he was holding onto  :smiley-eek:

Wasn't holding anything. Was just signing his chances of surviving the full length of the movie (youtube.com/watch?v=4sGR1-Wgo1M).

With respect to the forum tips, I'd suggest encouraging that users set their location in their profile. A lot of answers depend on it (mains voltages, suppliers, etc.).

Good idea. I amended the main post to include that.

True. But you can post a link to it, and say "point 5" or whatever.

I just added  South Africa  to my  Cape Town location, there might be some that don't know what country the Worlds most beautiful city is :-)

Oh yeah, I've heard that Africa is a big country and there you live in the south part.  ]:D

I went to sell her a bridge but....

BTW, how many people here know the mains power in say Singapore? I don't.

or taking it out of context and telling people she said them. In Washington,

I suppose to be fair to Sarah Palin,  there is some confusion about where and what Washington is , outside of the US :-)

Dead right about the power reference, I think its a great idea showing location, I am saying I was a bit naive thinking that everyone knows what country Cape Town is in ( and your link proves it  !! )

We have a big state named Washington, and a Washington District of Columbia (yeah, we're really owned by Columbians but don't tell!) and town after city after county, etc, named Washington....

So why would anyone be confused? It's really a ploy to keep Iran and NK from targeting missiles properly, The Onion is part of the spoof.

fixed

Now does that mean anything to you?

Thats in North America isnt it, like Florida  :-)

How could I forget, my country is Florida!

I've seen bits of Cape Town in the Charlie Jade series. That was some good sci-fi!

And how about my mains power? This is the city where Westinghouse was based when he hired Nicolas Tesla. IRRC here is where the first commercial AC generators were made. It could have been New York but for Edison, the great man, LOL!

the Tesla / Edison story would make a great soapy I reckon.

I wonder how they could spin this  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topsy_(elephant)) inThomas Alva's favour.

The linked article says she killed 3 people and was going to be executed; Edison simply suggested a way to do it. Not that I like him or anything but still.

There was nothing simple about it - it was calculated to show how dangerous Westinghouse's AC was.

Yes, a DC electrical grid would be so much safer  :smiley-roll:  and impractical.

From what I remember, the worst part about 60 cycle AC is the 60 cycle part. It's just right to start fibrillation.
