Windows7 Starter Edition FTDI driver issue

I am unable to install the FTDI (USB) driver on Windows7 Starter edition on my Netbook. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

HHmmm.. I THINK that IF you have a Arduino UNO (Which board do you have)?? That windows7 does not need any added drivers.

Can someone else confirm this??? I'll update my docs...

On Windows 7 (particularly the 64-bit version), you might need to go into the Device Manager and update the drivers for the Uno or Mega 2560. Just right click on the device (the board should be connected to your computer), and point Windows at the appropriate .inf file again. The .inf is in the drivers/ directory of the Arduino software (not in the FTDI USB Drivers sub-directory of it).

I have an Arduino UNO and yes I tried the manual install which didn't work.

Ok it' looks like the drivers that were supplied with arduino-0020 work but the latest ones with arduino-0022 don't.

I think the key here might be that you are using the "Starter" edition of Windows 7.

The Uno looks like a USB Modem to the Operating System (regardless of what OS it is.) Starter-Windows-7 might have a built-in limitation with USB modems. (I doubt many netbooks were designed with modems.)
