Topic: upload blink sketch to Arduino-Mini (04) unsuccesfull/invalid device signature (Read 6782 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi,

I try to upload the blink example to my brand new Arduino Mini-04, but to no avail.
Avrdude says 'invalid device signature' and that the option -F should be used.
How can you set that option?

I'm pretty sure the communication itself is OK, because I use the verbose output during upload and I see replies coming from the mini (see below).

Related to this: which boot loader is supposed to be installed for the mini-04?

Any help very much appreciated!

When talking to the bootlaoder it is the bootloader that supplies the device signature.  For some reason the bootloader on your Arduino Mini-04 is returning 00 00 00. Are you selecting the board "Arduino Mini w/ ATmega328"?

Perhaps you got one with a bad bootloader.  You could try re-flashing the bootloader.  You will need an ISP or an arduino on which you can run ArduinoISP.

Thanks John for your advice.

Indeed, I forgot to tell, I selected the Arduino Mini with ATMega 328.
Yes, I was thinking of the boot loader. Unfortunately I do not yet have an ISP or 2nd Arduino :-(

In Arduino 1.0, try changing:

mini328.upload.protocol=stk500

to:

mini328.upload.protocol=arduino

in the boards.txt file.  Does that fix the problem?

Hi Mellis, thanks very much, that did the trick!
I just wonder if it should be noted more prominently on the arduino site (the getting started section for the mini-328)? Anyway, thanks a lot !
