Hi.
i am working on a alarm system project use a Arduino to read 8 inputs which are coming through a 8 stage static register ( CD4021BE) i am have a problem now which switch has been closed and which one is open i need some help with the programming to now which input is which i have found some code (Shiftin) from the adrunio web site i have made some changes to it but sure how to now which number is which.

Are you getting reliable inputs from the 4021, just don't know how to interpret the data?

Or is it that you can't read the SR in the first place?
