Hello, I'm new to electronics and I would like to know how to decipher this datasheet:

Especially the pin stuff, which pin do I connect to the ground, etc...

It's a common anode device - I don't imagine you'd want to connect any pin to ground.
Connect pins 3, 5, 11, 16 to +5V, and the cathode pins (1, 14, 12, 10, 4, 2, 13, 9) via current limiting resistors to your output pins.

Thanks a lot! By the way that uses a lot of pins, I guess it's a better idea to use a common cathode display?

Think of your digital clock of a few decades ago it used at least four of these, six with a seconds display. How about a digital multimeter with eight or ten of these?

Don
