I have been trying to change my signature for a few days, but it keeps flipping back to the old one.
I can edit the signature successfully (to include codeplex.com sites) but after a while, overnight usually, it just goes back to the old signature (code.google.com).
Anyone else seen this problem and/or have a fix for this? It is damned annoying.
I have this problem when changing my profile information too. Location, gender, and forum time were the only ones I changed. I've changed it twice so far (this will be the third time), and it reverts back to what it was before (which was nothing) after awhile.
I thought it was because of my newbie forum status, but now looking at this thread, I'm not sure these two incidents are related?
Signature limits are a measure requested by moderators to try to discourage spammers from registering accounts simply to put their spammy wares in URLs in signatures.
If we can discourage them, they won't register so many fake accounts, I won't have to spend so much of my time deleting their posts and accounts, and I can get on with my second favourite hobby.
If it takes a little while to get it right (it's just a signature, get over it) then I'm prepared to "suffer" a bit longer.
@AWOL I still struggle to understand when 'they' will know it is right and how we will find out so that we can just make our changes once. No response from the webmaster, btw.
I don't think anyone disagrees with the need for it if it stops the spammers, just the lack of comms is a bit frustrating.
Out of interest, my new signature is less than 140 chars, the old one is not!

Me too, but, like I said, it's only a signature, and I can't get too worked-up about it.
As some who just joined the forums it would be nice to be able to have a signature. Maybe you should simply remove the feature if it that problematic.
However, signatures aside, right now it is not possible to set any profile information. I would think the forums also serve to foster community so having members be able to share their personal information - like location, blog and web links - is a very useful function.
I did notice that the "local time" displayed on the change settings page is incorrect. Instead of adjusting the time by hours it is adjusted it by minutes.
