Gear for 5mm stepper motor shaft

Does anyone know of a good supply of gears that would fit a 5mm stepper motor shaft? I want to gear down a stepper motor by at least 13.5:1 and the shaft size is 5mm diameter. Most gears I find are either 4mm or 6mm and designed for standard DC motors.

I was looking for that the last 3 months without success. At the end I went to metal manufacture and got the motor shaft reduced to 4mm diameter
If you find ready-to-buy solution, please let me know.

I have had good luck using gears from high-end rc cars. I think I picked up a couple of gears for a 5mm shaft at hobby-lobby: http://www.hobby-lobby.com/ not to be confused with: http://www.hobbylobby.com/ !!!

Good luck, and tell us if you find anything else that works

I have since found these guys - http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Gears_365.html - that have a selection of gears with 5mm bore. They also have a 5mm to 6mm shaft adaptor meaning a much larger range of 6mm bore gears can be fitted.

Looks great, but they only ship to UK, so bummer for those of us in the states.

Cool find though. Their prices seem really low.

I'm pretty certain I saw a US site on my travels, but didn't keep the link. They were a bearing and gear company, not connected to RC or robotics.

Servocity makes clamping and set-screw hubs for 5mm shafts. Pricey, but they work great =) You can then either drill out your own gears to mount to their hubs, or buy their hub-mount gears.

Here's a link: http://servocity.com/html/hubs___adaptors.html
