Topic: nRF24l01 : Is it possible to customize the PA level? (Read 205 times) previous topic - next topic

Dear friends,

I want to control my nRF24l01's transmit distance in about 5 meter.  However, even using code:

radio.setPALevel(RF24_PA_MIN);

the distance is far too much for me.

Is it possible to do the dbm adjustment or I need some other RF module?

Thanks!!!

Hi,

Which module is it? Does it have external antenna?

You can shield / detune the antenna to decrease the radiated RF..

it's the cheapest model you can find and have no external antenna.

My target is as follow:

One Tx device and multi Rx device.  When any Rx device getting close to Tx device, i.e. Rx device is receiving signal from Tx device, Rx device gives warning.

That is not really practical with wireless devices. So many things can effect the range that it would not be possible to get the sort of threshold you want to work reliably. And 5 metres is very close. I have had nRF24s (with PCB antenna) working at 110 metres.

For range detection use a sonar or laser range finder, or a break-beam detector.
