Library's

Why not add in some more library's? There are so many good libraries out there! Why not include some of more of them with the download of the Arduino IDE?

Because they have to be tested, to make sure that they work with all versions of the Arduino, and then they have to be maintained.

We could use the example of the Eclipse project to provide a well-integrated mechanism for delivering new libraries and updates, but keep the servers distributed. It would be a bit of a "crap shoot" to see if a well-implemented "download new software" extension mechanism would be well-received, and well-maintained by those who would step up to become providers of package delivery services.

I just got started with the Eclipse environment and was impressed with this feature. Other paradigms to be studied and perhaps adopted or considered would be "apt-get" a la Linux/Ubuntu, or teapot/teacup a la Tcl.

More libraries would be great! Which areas interest you the most?
