Insertiing the motor shield onto the arduino uno

Hi, I recently purchased an uno board along with the motor shield(+sensors). However, I have no idea about inserting the shield onto the board =(
The pins seem soldered in both the arduino and the shield. i dont see any provision for attaching the shield directly. what is it taht i must do. Kindly help.

Are you sure it's a shield, not a standalone board?

Maybe you should give details of the make and model, and or a photo. Shields are designed to just simply push down into the Arduino holes
