size of speakers I can connect

Hi.

Noob here, but I just need to know, I have a 32 ?, 0.25W speaker and need to know if I can connect it to my arduino uno r3 without doing any damage and if so how?

Thanks

A nominal 32 ohm speaker will draw too much current from an arduino output pin by itself, risking damage to the output pin and/or the speaker. So to use the speaker safely wire a series resistor from the output pin to the speaker with the other side of the speaker wired to ground. A 100 ohm resistor is the minimum size you should use. Of course that means that 3/4 or the 'audio power' will be wasted in the resistor, so the speaker may not be loud enough for your application. Speakers almost always benefit when used with small audio amplifier modules.

Thank you that cleared it up.
