Suggestions needed for a controlled desk light

I have a project area that I'd like to light up from time to time with an Arduino controlling it. I was planning to use a desk lamp, but wondered if there was an easier way than using a relay. Has anyone seen a better (safer) way to interface a lamp to an arduino?

More expensive, but safer: Power switch tail IoT Power Relay - COM-14236 - SparkFun Electronics

That's perfect! I went with a newer model from the manufacturer's website. Thanks!

someone from my area. awesome! In case you use halogen lamp, keep the lamp base away from your wiring. Once I had some interference problem and it ended up being that my wires are too close to my lamp base. the base has a transformer and every time I turn on or off my lamp, my LCD will get messed up.

Great to see people from Minnesota! I hadn't heard of that problem with the lamp. I was going to go with an LED lamp to save power. I just want to be able to turn it on remotely, and the Arduino is great at that. I'm surprised SparkFun doesn't sell the latest version of the Powerswitch tail.

LED lamps also need DC so transformer + rectifier. Just stay away from the lamp base you will be fine.
