project ideas and help for a innovative science project

hello,
I am working on something very very innovative and cheap. have any idea to guide me?
like
converting bioenergy-->electrical energy?
solar powered rc lawnmower?
blind persons help stick(with sensors to help him walk and move)?

please help me.

Thanks,
Rahul

Sounds great, good for you. What are you working on?

Or do you mean you want somebody else to suggest an idea for something innovative and cheap for you to work on? That's a different question altogether. What's your purpose in doing this work?

How about a lawnmower that burns its own clippings to heat water to run steam turbine to make electricity for electric mowers?
Use solar panel to build up initial charge to preheat water and to provide initial ignition source for the grass incinerator.
Big waving stick in front to stop before you hit a blind person wandering around in your lawn complaining about how quiet your mower is not hearing it approaching...

What do you call innovative?
For me innovation is making business with a new idea/concept.

What do you call cheap?
Cheap means different things for me and Richard Branson (I assume)
What is your budget?

seen this? - Arduino Playground - Ideas -

Umm, I actually mean something that saves money and is usefull in every normal man's life. I am not selling it but I want to design something really nice and helpful.
That's what I mean.
Maybe a survilliance robot but that will for surely cost more than 200$ atleast. I want to make everything myself from circuits to body(but not motors and wheels xD)

A toothbrush timer for kids?
You can have a nice "animation-tooth-bot" with just a few servo's, an Arduino and a toy doll.

An alarm clock which wakes you 10 minutes earlier if your need to scratch ice from your cars window.
And is synchronized with your digital agenda so if you have a day off it does not ring at 06:00

A tool that switch off the lights when there is no movement for 5 minutes.

They all share the same pattern, do something meaningful after some amount of time, a certain trigger or both.

RC lawnmower is cute, but if you were looking for innovation, that would be more like autonomous lawnmower.
I have some products I will make, but dont mind sharing.
first, an autonomous metal detector. There is alot of use for one of those. Esp if you can get the cost below 100$.
for the hobbyist, you would be taking out the pain in the butt part. The idea specifically is it search, identify, and mark, using available gps, and metal detecting technologies. Deploy such a robot in the park, and find metal trash prolly.
On a more serious note, cheap autonomous robots could be deployed to save lives. In nations where hundreds of kids die yearly from forgotten land mines, inexpensive metal detecting robots could be used to save lives. There are other uses, as well, for the creative entrepreneur.

Remote sensing is a big deal right now. Depends though what you want to sense. I'd write more, but I have to go work.

Great ideas both! I love them; a system which will turn of lights if we dont move for a while  excellent and
metal detector cheap one? HOW? help me

Thanks.

Are you looking for idea or for someone to do the work for you? It sounds like the latter...

No no, I dont mean to waste anyone's time, all I want is a good idea.

You really need to be more specific as to the area in which you are trained. Are you high school science or university engineering? Is there any $$$ budget involved? Energy and waste management might be good areas to explore as the world's resources shrink.

Any waste management ideas or projects?

What resources and skills are available to you?

At the moment, you seem to be asking somebody to do the innovating and inventing for you and then tell you how to implement it; exactly how much of this invention will actually be your work? Who are you; what are you trying to achieve?

I am a middle school student and have some experience in robotics, I own 2 arduino's(pro minis) some brushless motors,ESCs,11.1v Lipo batteries and very basic cutting tools. I own these items because I wanted to make a quadcopter which I didnt make because of certian problems with the radio.
I also own a sparkfun 6DOF IMU.(i2C)

You need to be more specific! Don't think along the lines of "I want to make the world a better place using technology", that's too vague! Come up with something that suits your talents/resources. If you're good at programming, then come up with some ideas that utilise that talent (like working on an artificial intelligence project, for example).

I am working on something very very innovative and cheap.

Unfortunately, innovation isn't usually cheap. If you look at a product such as the arduino uno, for example (dear me, it's innovative all right! :D), you can see that it's pretty cheap, at only $30! However, if you look into the cost of designing such a product, creating all the framework around it (like the arduino programming environment and 'language'), designing the board, sourcing the components, finding bugs and fixing them, coming up with new revisions, etc, etc, etc, that's a HUGE cost! In fact, if arduino wasn't so open-source based, I would imagine the same board would fetch you at least a hundred bucks or so!

If by cheap, you mean you want the consumer to pay less, and you don't mind investing some capital to fund your project, then ignore the above rant :stuck_out_tongue:

I want to make everything myself from circuits to body(but not motors and wheels xD)

Circuits and body of what? Don't rush ahead, first get an idea of what you want to do! Right now, it seems as if you don't really know at all (you're suggesting things from renewable energy to blind peoples' aids to metal detectors to motion sensing lights)! I suggest making a list of all these possibilities for your project (don't spend ages on it though), then eliminate them based on what's realistic. For example, do you have any background in the field of biofuels? If not, then strike that off:

converting bioenergy-->electrical energy

Do this until you find something suitable! You can worry about all the details like where to make your PCB much later. Don't cross a bridge until you come to it...

No no, I dont mean to waste anyone's time, all I want is a good idea

You aren't wasting anyone's time! Nobody has to help you if they don't want to.

Good luck with your project

You are absolutely right. I will think about that today and let you guys know.

Thanks

You might consider an arduino project that logs the amount of sunshine and wind movement where you live to see these resources would be able to power your home at a reasonable cost.

Here's a idea for you that I and others could use. I have a swimming pool, and I need a device that will float, sample the water, and disperse the proper amount of chemicals into the pool as needed. Oh, It needs to run its routine at night and have a docking station it hides in. Kind of like those vacuum cleaners that you see.
It could charge via solar.
I pay a pool guy right now to do it. You figure even if the device cost me a few hundred dollars. Thats cheaper than 6 months of pool service and that doesnt even include the cleanings
