Mega R3 pins

Could you please in the next Mega revision allow easy access to all the pins Mega2560 offers. Instead of 5GND female headers, remove a few and add access to input capturing, analogue comparing and XCK pin. What is the reason this has not been done yet?
People buy Megas for seriously high price and you can't even offer full features of the chip?

Relative to what?

and you can't even offer full features of the chip?

If you don't like the design, design your own.

Are you saying it's cheap?

Why do I have to create my own design if the official one can be improved? Isn't this an Arduino improvement suggestion subforum or did I misinterpreted it?

Compared to a new car? Of course. Compared to the price of cup of coffee? No.

It was the whining attitude that I objected to.

Megas are expensive. Unless you're a millionaire.

I was not whining, I was just asking, what was the reason the official design does not offer all the features the chip offers.

If you really want to break out more pins, make your own board.

I'll ask again, what was the reason the original creators of the board did not break out all the pins and why should I create my own design if the official one can be improved, this is suggestions for the Arduino project, right? Arduino Mega price can handle if you add 3-6 pins to the mega, even goddamn holes trough the board would do.

Wahoo ! what education !

Gentlemen:

  1. Are you sure that you follow the rules of morality and courtesy of this forum?
  2. Are you sure that your aggressive words will not prejudice the USA Arduino project?

The technical question is however very fair. The fact of not having realesed these important pins out shows that the designers of this board did not understand the importance of these pins.

Are they guilty?
Not of course.
It just missed an electronics specialist in the team which would help the designer**.**

Is aggression to say that ?
Not obviously,
But refuse to admit the truth is the worst attitude. It is this attitude which prevents progress.

Can the board be updated ?
Unfortunately no.
There will be no new development on avr board , only ARM.
We have to do with the existing boards

@Avamander
Don'f forget that arduino boards are for beginners and artist.
Their goal is to facilitate the handling by non specialists.
And they do it well.

For your "advanced" uses I think the demo-board Atmel (Xplained that cost about 40 €) will be more suitable.

Have a nice day, Here the night begins.

There's unlikely to be a bigger MEGA released by Arduino (compatibility issues, if nothing else.)
However, I believe that the Seeeduino MEGA has more pins connected to headers (although in a different layout.)

@68tjs
Thank you a lot for your answer. You made it clear to me why it is designed as it is.

@westfw
I am satisfied with my mega, I can always get a small wire and solder it to the pins. I asked the question because it would make our life easier if we didn't have to.
