Can someone please shed some light on exactly how you access the XBee connected Arduinos when utilizing an XBee gateway? I have seen that you can access everything via a web portal, however, is there a way to access only one XBee when needed? Here is my situation:
- Tablets mounted on production lines within our factories connected to the network via WiFi
- Arduinos on each line gathering data for production (roller pressure, temperature, line speed, etc)
- When submitting job completion information, the tablet will need to grab the sensor data from the line that the tablet is being used on. This would be designated using a variable (ie: line3_mach5) as the tablet may need to be swapped around occasionally and will need to know what machine it is running on.
I have thought of using bluetooth Arduinos, however, the steps needed to disconnect from one module and connect to the next is more work than I would like our factory workers doing. The other option is using regular WiFi arduinos but I have looked into the XBees as well. If you have a preference of the WiFi option vs. XBees please note that as well. The online tutorials and documentation mainly advertise their web portal which I don't think will work for me as I almost need a serial print to the tablet or to dump to a text file on our network.
Thanks
