help, stepper with l298n

hi, i'm new in the world of stepper motor and this is my first time i try to drive one of these motor. i have a nmb stepper motor (PM35L-048-HPD4 motor unipolar stepper NMB-MAT 7.5 deg Stepper with worm gear) 5 wire(unipolar i think). anyway i tried the typical connection with 8 diodes at the output of l298n, so at the start it work good but after some seconds (30 sec more or less) the IC l298n become very warm and the motor doesn't work anymore

Anyway could you post a picture and give a more detail description about your problem?
is the 298 warm or hot? btw what type of diode did you use? when you say motor no work no more what does that mean?
