How long does it take for a new avatar to replace and old one?
One person thought my bird was one I had killed to photograph it, whereas it had flown into a window and I was guarding it until came around. However I would like to change it and have chosen a new on my profile (an Echidna) , but the old one is still appearing on my posts?

That's a funny looking "bird" you have there.
Your browser shows the old picture, you should purge the cache.
I see some sort of hedgehog.
Thanks MAS3, that has fixed it, sorry to have not twigged it myself earlier.
Hehehe that's no hedgehog or porcupine, it is an Echidna, we have them wander in from the surrounding bush usually chasing ants that burrow behind the roadside curb. They are pretty cute and very harmless natives of the area, however not the cuddly cute. 
They stagger/waddle along like ancient, ancient animals. They are Monotremes, they lay eggs and hatch their young, but produce milk (mammal like) for their young to lick off. They move slowly and represent a fair portion of road kill on our roads. 
When disturbed the strong legs just start burrowing and leave the spines showing upwards, not so useful on bitumen roads.
