i just want to ask if i can supply the arduino mega board with 5v "23 Amps"? im planning to modify my power supply that i used before in my computer to a regulator that i will use in our project at school. im a noob i dunno if can supply it with higher amps but i know what current does i just wanna make sure my board will not burn (OCD).
The current rating of that supply, tells you what it CAN deliver.
That means your device (an Arduino) will not take more than needed.
Of course you need to wire it correct and double check for that before turning on that power.
And because it is severe overkill, the supply will be inefficient.
If you want to be sure, use a fuse in the power line.
The Arduino has an on board fuse (i don't know it's rating by heart), but if you use this supply for other peripherals too, a fuse is a good idea.
It will protect your devices, and the wires from melting (sending 23 A through a wire requires thick wires, unusable for your Arduino or breadboard).
