I got one today.
The bottom line was:
'Protected by kapersky Anti-Virus And Anti-Spam'
That was NOT reassuring!

I am never particularly reassured when spam messages contain clauses that state that they have been scanned for viruses (or spam).

Yes, but who are kaperski?
I've heard of Kasperski, but never kaperski.
Is their anti-virus any good?
(Obviously not, as Avast blocked the attachment that the email was asking me to open)

Obviously the anti spam part did not work.

Sunday morning for me means bagels & lox. I've noticed that those little salty things that are like a cross between a shriveled pea and an olive are seriously fewer, or once in a while entirely missing.

Whassup with that!? Is Caper-ski involved?

I'm starting to assume that the emails about "your account has been locked" must have some success rate, because most of the spam emails I get these days are along those lines, certainly more than telling me I won a million dollars in the lottery, or that a rich relative just died.

Four or five times a day, every day, I learn that my Apple ID, Paypal, bank account (including banks I don't deal with) have all been locked, closed, or require my "verification" as soon as possible.

It sure does,

Can't even make eye contact with people these days, with their attention fully engrossed in their iphone (even while crossing the damn road!) When the not so tech savvy see an email like that its panic mode, as their life revolves around their devices and social medial (i.e. no life). So they don't take the time to notice it illegitimate nature of the email and hastily click away.

Looking at ransomware on wikipedia, it appears the scammers are making decent money, in the order of 10's of millions.

Yes, I was reading that she might encounter problems with some databases where they have a test:

Code: [Select]

if name == "NULL"

rather than

Code: [Select]

if name IS NULL

(pseudo-code but you get the idea).

She should not go into a business partnership with someone who's surname is Void.
