DMF-50773NF-SLY display to arduino uno with u8glib

I have a couple of these displays and just tried hooking them up and getting it to display something.
The weird thing is I measure Vee with nothing attached to it @ +5V.

Maybe it was because I didn't use a pot to adjust the contrast (didn't have one at hand, so I tried fixed resistors to gnd)

Anyone have any pointer?
