arduino pushbutton interfacing (VB.NET)

Hello guys,

I am barely new to both arduino and vb.net that's why I am here to beg for help and learn from you $)
So here's my project a pushbutton but with a vb.net interface :slight_smile:
I want to happen is when the button is pressed it will communicate to vb.net and the vb.net will show a output(picture for example).
Here's the arduino code I will use from example code:

/*
  Button

 Turns on and off a light emitting diode(LED) connected to digital
 pin 13, when pressing a pushbutton attached to pin 2.

 The circuit:
 * LED attached from pin 13 to ground
 * pushbutton attached to pin 2 from +5V
 * 10K resistor attached to pin 2 from ground

 * Note: on most Arduinos there is already an LED on the board
 attached to pin 13.

 This example code is in the public domain.

 */

// constants won't change. They're used here to
// set pin numbers:
const int buttonPin = 2;     // the number of the pushbutton pin
const int ledPin =  13;      // the number of the LED pin

// variables will change:
int buttonState = 0;         // variable for reading the pushbutton status

void setup() {
  // initialize the LED pin as an output:
  pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);
  // initialize the pushbutton pin as an input:
  pinMode(buttonPin, INPUT);
}

void loop(){
  // read the state of the pushbutton value:
  buttonState = digitalRead(buttonPin);

  // check if the pushbutton is pressed.
  // if it is, the buttonState is HIGH:
  if (buttonState == HIGH) {
    // turn LED on:
    digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH);
  }
  else {
    // turn LED off:
    digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW);
  }
}

On my VB.NET(I used the drag & drop serialPort component) I dont have any idea on what code will I use to make it show its output.
I searched the google about this button project but it seems no one can give me the idea about the vb.net code :frowning:
I hope you spare some of your precious time and knowledge on me so that I could have a knowledge for my future projects THANK YOU <3

I use Linux so I can't advise about VB.net but what you want is certainly doable.

This question should really be in the section about interfacing and I will ask the Moderator to move it.

I have a Python demo of something similar in that section.

Your question is really 2-fold.
Code for the Arduino which will respond to the serial port.
VB.NET code to command the Arduino.

I found the Arduino code found here Arduino, C#, and Serial Interface - CodeProject
to work just fine.

I simplified the C# but haven't had a chance to convert it to VB.NET
