1024D switch led panel documentation

Hi,

I have a broken DLink "DES 1024D" network switch. I would like to toy with the leds component (on the left side of the switch), but I can't find any documentation on this. Here's some picture of the "thing".

I would be happy if someone can help me on this.

Each of those HC164 shift registers has 8 outputs. There are 6 of them so 48 outputs. Each of the three LED modules has 16 LEDs. So that's 48 LED's. I would guess taht the outputs of the HC164's go direct to individual LEDs.

The power and ground lines should be easy to spot. Each HC164 will have an input line, a shift line, and a latch line. There will be between 1 and 6 data lines in that wire and between 1 and 6 shift clock lines and between 1 and 6 latch lines. Find the pinout for the HC164 chip and find out what control pins are connected to what wires.

Ok, I'll investigate this way.
Thank you !
