Like the title said, I have some problems installing the Arduino UNO board in Windows XP, I follow step by step this guide (http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows#toc4) but when system should say me that the wizard has finished installing the software, it doesn't. Instead of this, it says that there was a problem in the installation.
The drivers version is 0022, downloaded from this site http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
Did you select the drive folder from the arduino installation when you were installing? If not, you must select to manually install the hardware and select the drivers folder as the place to install from.
Hi Alex,
Did you follow the section with this heading:
"Installing drivers for the Arduino Uno with Windows7, Vista, or XP:" ??
Did you:
"# Finally, navigate to and select the Uno's driver file, named "ArduinoUNO.inf", located in the "Drivers" folder of the Arduino Software download (not the "FTDI USB Drivers" sub-directory). " ??
In the installation process I navigate to arduino0022/drivers (not choosing the FTDI USB drivers directory), but I can't select that file, just the general folder. The file exists, I see it if I go to the directory, but in the drivers installation process doesn't appear.
Sorry for reflooting.... but I really want to use Arduino and I´m desperate. The installation at the end days it can't find the file, but I extract all the files from arduino 0022.rar like the installation process say...
I follow all the steps from the guide in the web, or that guide, but in the cap before last, The process says me it couldn't find the file and the installation fail.
I do not see the Arduino device in your device manager. It should be listed under the "?". Once you get the correct driver installed, it will appear in "ports".
Try rebooting the computer with the Arduino device plugged into the USB port.
Please guide me how can i troubleshot this problem trying to install Arduino in XP. I didn't found "Arduino UNO (COMxx)" under "Ports (COM & LPT)" in device manager. Instead i m getting "USBasp" under "Other devices" when connecting Arduino.
The Arduino will show up under the yellow "?" first. I connect the Arduino to the computer, then boot the computer. The first time through, it gave me the "New hardware found", but I did not know where the driver was, so it ended up under the "?" in the device manager.
When I finally got it there, I right-clicked on it, and selected "Properties". It showed no driver. I think I selected "Install driver" or the like, and when it asked where it was, I pointed it at the "drivers" folder in the Arduino folder (where you downloaded it).
When I went back to the device manager, it was under "Ports" as COM5.
If you are certain that the USBasp is your Arduino device, try right clicking on that and removing it. Then reboot the computer.
Or if you are feeling lucky, right click on that entry, select "Properties", and "Install driver", or reinstall driver if it has picked up one. Aim at the drivers folder when it asks.

It happens to me too!!!
but I did not know where the driver was, so it ended up under the "?" in the device manager.
I didn't get what you mean by this
When I finally got it there,
what you got???

Well i m completely confuse what you want to say??? and what you are talking about
When I went back to the device manager, it was under "Ports" as COM5.
I have tried reeboot my PC several times with Arduino Connected but their is no effect on Device Manage status it continuously showing "USBasp" under yellow "?" and not "Arduino UNO (COMxx)" under "Ports (COM & LPT)"
