I left information over a month ago about an error on the reference page through the github site.
Nothing has been done about it and I see nothing is done about quite a few error corrections on there..
I have just found that the info for reference/serial/available and reference /serial/read are wrong. In two different places it advises two different places to report this. Is there a better chance of getting them looked at on this forum?
Quite honestly no. Stuff once wrong never seems to be corrected. We have been trying for years to get the capicitor removed from the latch pin on the shift out tutorial.
About two weeks ago a discussion started on the Developers List about documentation. Matthijs Kooijman proposed publishing the "source code" on github so people could more easily submit changes and the Arduino folks could more easily review / approve changes. If you like the idea or want to put pressure on the Arduino folks this would be a good time. I suggest starting here...

This is where Matthijs Kooijman started the discussion...

Sadly, a new thread was not created and Google's newsgroup interface is cumbersome so it can be difficult to wade through.
as pauls thinks things are too complicated for me anyway maybe its just the way I am trying to use the links but I get
this webpage is not available with both those links.

I don't understand.
...maybe its just the way I am trying to use the links but I get this webpage is not available with both those links.
Odd. Both links work here (Internet Explorer 9 {not logged in to Google} and Firefox 26 {logged in to Google}). I have no idea what to suggest or why you would not be able to access those messages.

I didn't see anything wrong on those pages. I also could not find any reference to errors in documantation on github. What were the errors you reported?

I was referring to
but I can't find shiftout13 on the reference page now. I found it when I left this comment.

I have internet explorer 8 and chrome and they both fail to load on either?
I've got bored with pointing out stuff like for(pos = 0; pos < 180; pos += 1) // goes from 0 degrees to 180 degrees
and if(currentMillis - previousMillis > interval) {
which gets repeated by noobs and accepted as Gospel.
So why does there seem to be such a lack of interest in fixing errors/problems by the people who have the power to do so.
-
They are to busy doing other things? - Pass the job or means to change onto someone else.
-
They don't make money out of it so cannot be arsed? - Pass the job to someone else.
-
They are making money so who cares? - Take the job away from them.
-
Politics and in fighting? - No answer to that apart from maybe creating a breakaway forum with better people.
-
Other reasons.

There is interest. Reply #2 has a suggestion for keeping that interest alive.
- They are to busy doing other things? - Pass the job or means to change onto someone else.
Who?
Riva:
But is that interest from the community and people (paid/unpaid employees/volunteers) who do not have the ability to change things.
From Reply #2...

A wiki system may be the best option for allowing everyone to edit and correct examples. Of course that creates some additional problems because people may add nonsense and it needs to be cleaned up.
AWOL:

I am a little confused about this AWOL (but then pauls thinks things are too complicated for me anyway) are you saying you are bored of printing these two lines for people (I assume the first one is 'pos ++1' and not 'pos+=1') or you are bored with pointing out that there is something wrong with these lines?
I assume I am one of the noobs you are referring to, If I ask for help on here I rarely, if ever get the answer as a line of code so I get the lines of code where ever I can and if that means I use a line like
for(pos = 0; pos < 180; pos ++ 1) // goes from 0 degrees to 180 degrees
then it is because I have found it to work and no-one has helped me with a better option.
I correct this ------ I now use
for(pos = 0; pos < 180; pos ++ ) // goes from 0 degrees to 180 degrees
As I have just found recently in someone else's code .
The first spans 180 "degrees", but goes from 0 to 179.
The second should be ">=".
ok thanks I hadn't considered either of those option.
