I am looking to start a tracked vehicle project and need to get an H Bridge to control two small 3V DC motors. I am considering the L293 is this OK ?? Also is there anything that would suffice that i could find at a local radio shack else i guess i will need to order from mouser or digi key.
The 293 is a perfect choice. It's cheap, readily available, easy to use and pretty robust. I'm just soldering one in place right this moment. ..!

In the datasheet, you find a way to put a metal piece on the 4 ground pins.
