Topic: Reccomendation for windows C/C++ IDE / compiler (Read 368 times) previous topic - next topic

This is not exactly an arduino programming related question, but couldn't think of a more appropriate section in the forum to post it. It is however still related to an arduino project. Apologies if I am off topic..

So, I am looking to develop a widows application to complement / talk to my arduino based hardware.
I have no previous experience with desktop application development so I am looking for a user friendly yet powerful (and free !) windows IDE with C/C++ compiler for this purpose.

If anyone has any recommendations, mostly appreciated.

VisualStudio.  It's free, it's good, and it even support Arduino, Linux, and Android development.

also worth looking at is CodeBlocks and wxWidgets
