Rockblock Iridium Satellite Modem

Anyone want to work together at interfacing Rockblock with Arduino?

I have the hardware and Node.JS library.

I have been unable to find any Arduino code online...

The PCB assembly also offers a serial interface suitable for other platforms such as Arduino™.

drop a line to vendor.

How much $ the service costs??

I've been talking with Nick, he promises soon. Has anyone already made it work with Arduino?

See link for cost.

looks to be priced in Sterling.
£159 for the cheapest hardware
£8/month plus £0.07 or £0.08 per satellite hit, up to 50 bytes per

It's a bit pricey for me as a "just fooling around" proposition.

I have a paying application for this service. Hence my motivation.
Does anyone see the value of this hardware?

Does anyone know of a similar service, which can give me coverage worldwide and easy to obtain hardware?

Looks like it is a fairly simple matter (for send at least) of using the usual modem AT commands, with the slight complication that the serial interface is 3.3V. Have you managed to get the arduino to talk to the device at all?

Worldwide coverage? Rockblock is difficult to obtain?

He did it! Works great! Rockblock Library for Arduino:

Yes I need worldwide satellite coverage.
I can't find a supplier of Rockblock in South Africa so I'm looking for a more "universal" solution.

It works everywhere. They can send you as many units as you want. Can't beat the price.
