Mirobot: an open source WiFi drawing bot

Hi all,
I just wanted to take the opportunity to let you know about a project I've been working on for the past few months. Mirobot is an open source Turtle robot (based on the Arduino of course!) that's designed to help kids learn about technology and programming. All the files are online so you can make it yourself although I'm probably also going to put it on Kickstarter if anyone's interested.

More details at http://mirobot.io

I built it to play around with my kids, but if anyone's interested in building one themselves (or for their own kids) then let me know if you need any guidance.

Cheers,
Ben Pirt

That looks cool! How long until you hit production?

It shouldn't be too long now - planning on getting it launched by the beginning of May. You can sign up to the mailing list at Mirobot and I'll let you know when the Kickstarter is kickstarted!

Been making good progress getting a new WiFi module working nicely with WebSockets so it's a real time connection for control. About to spin a new version of the PCB to accommodate it.

I just thought I'd update this old thread to say I did it! Mirobot is on Kickstarter now:

That is a pretty cool looking bot! Congrats on getting the project funded and good luck getting it in the hands of your backers!
