Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and to Arduino, and I have a project that I'm trying to put together.
Basically, I work at a studio and sometimes creeps come in through the front door.
We'd like to set up a small little "panic" button that the receptionist presses that will then send out a text message to all staff members that reads something like:
liudr:
Possibly arduino with a gsm shield and a sim card from a prepaid cell phone.
If the place has wifi/internet access you can just use email. There are some email to text message services, and most providers have it set up by default. The address is usually something like PHONENUMBER@m.PROVIDER.com
If you want to catch everyone's attention and don't mind making a noise, you might consider using a wireless doorbell with the button in reception and the bell somewhere that everyone else can hear.
thanks for all the advice! the stun baton looks interesting but i'm afraid at a recording studio, it'd get over-used on long sessions and stressful days
so either via a shield or email?
which one would be the best option for just a push button activated text?
also - do you know where i might find rough templates or directions on how to set this up?
