Doubts with Accelerometer ADXL335

Hi everybody,

I have just a doubt about the function of the ADXL335 accelerometer: does it detects only inclination of it, or even movements.
I.E.: Let's suppose I move the accelerometer on the table along the x axis (just translating it), does it perceive the translation or only the rotation (that is the same as the initial one)?

Thanks a lot!!

Gianmarco.

In order to move in translation you have to accelerate and decelerate. The accelerometer will detect and measure both of those.

Thanks a lot!

Then I'but the adxl335. That seems to be the easiest to use.

I have another question if I can make it here...

What is the difference between this http://www.robot-italy.com/it/triple-axis-accelerometer-breakout-adxl335.html accelerometer and these 4 http://www.digikey.it/product-search/it/sensors-transducers/accelerometers/1966355?k=ADXL335&stock=1&pbfree=1&rohs=1? I would like to buy it from the digikey store (the second one), but I can't see images and I can't decrypt the datasheets. Could you tell me what is the equivalent of the 1st accelerometer in the digikey store? Thanks a lot!!

The breakout board has large pads that are quite easy to connect wires to. The pads are probably 0.1 inch spaced, in which case you could solder header pins in, then you could plug it into a breadboard.

The bare chip is all but impossible to connect to unless you are making a PCB to solder it to.
