The resistor is made into a jumper, the same as they sell in packs of 100 jumpers only these have the resistor soldered inline along with heatshrink tubing and header pins and a little other material..ill do a tutorial as to how to make them,, i use them all the time and are in my opinion great. There is a little effort involved but from an experimentation standpoint i think you may be happy with them. 
The great thing is, if your happy using resistors as they are you can. As for them being better they are just like using a jumper and have the flexibility of one as well.
