Output of L293D

I am using a L293D to run a 12 V motor. The output I am getting for the motor is 0.16V and the motor isn't working. What us the output voltage I should be getting????

If you're putting 12V in (you didn't say!) then you should see about 10V across the motor when it is full on. But that depends if everything is connected and powered correctly.

A circuit diagram would help also the code that you are using to drive it.

If the motor draws too much current, the ancient, inefficient L239D will shut down.

Post a link to the motor product page or data sheet.

are you sure directly connect 12V supply into the L293D IC driver? i though it's will immediately hot. So we need more information about your wiring diagram.

An L293D needs two supply voltages.
A 5volt logic supply, and a higher than 5volt motor supply (e.g. 15volt for a 12volt motor).
