Hydrogen fuel cell instead of battery

I need reliable power source for my quadcopter project that will be able to run for at least one hour. High-end batteries are quite expensive and I need to find some alternative. I made some simple H fuel cells in school years ago, I'm thinking about stacking dozen or-so fuel cells into one cube. Has anyone ever built something similar? What are your suggestions?

I think the power density from a fuel cell is insufficient to get it off the ground. Unless they have a lot better fuel cells than I last played with.

Hydrogen fuel cells are much heavier than a LIPO battery for the same power capacity.
Getting 1 hour flight time will be extremely hard.
Best Ive ever seen is around 20 minutes.

For airborne use energy density is the factor you should be looking at for comparing different airborne power supplies. Fuel cells will probably measure up short in that regard, but that is more a gut reaction then a well researched opinion.

You may need to go back to nitro or gas powered engines.

if you have hydrogen, make a balloon.
