Pump controller for river science models.

Thanks to many on these forums who helped me develop the "Alix" flow controller for our river models. The movie says it all. We're at www.emriver.com.

We used an Arduino Pro and custom PCB designed by Chris Alix. The pump's driven by a MOSFET; pretty simple, but the details tooks months to work out.

That's great stuff, do you put sand in the box to simulate erosion etc?

Rob,

Yes, but we use a special plastic sand; I've spent 20 years developing all this stuff. Lots of movies, etc. at www.emriver.com. We ship worldwide now, and just shipped number 100 of our 2-meter Em2! All a labor of love for me, for education and river conservation

I watched some of the clips. That must be fascinating to work with 10s or 100s of years of accelerated river "growth" in real time. I love the one of the river delta growing out into the "sea", and the way you can cut the sand away to reveal the strata.

Presumably with different colours you can track the journey of soil to see exactly where it winds up, I bet it's not always where one would expect.

Pity I have so many other interests
