Quadrature encoder

Hello,

does any one knows where i can find rotary encoders with a resolution of 0.5 minutes or better to use them in a diy project?

Thank you

how many pulses per rotation is that?

10800 cpr (43200 in quadrature)

i;ve found one here http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/AEDA-3300-BE1/AEDA-3300-BE1-ND/2210489
but is quite expensive

Resolutions that high are going to be very expensive. 1000, 2000 5000 CPR are rather common, but 10800 is going to be pricy. Not much demand for them.

You could gear your encoder with a timing belt and pulleys to achieve a higher resolution.

I all ready use a worm gear mechanism with 1/40 ratio, but i need something more precise

Can a 9 dof imu do the job?

i don't know if this link to be much help to you but here's one that is as precise i have ever seen
